Djokovic Reflects Positively Despite Shanghai Masters Loss to Sinner

After a stellar year that included securing his first Olympic gold in Paris this past August, Novak Djokovic’s journey at the Shanghai Masters ended in a defeat to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The 24-time Grand Slam champion lost 7-6(4), 6-3 in the final but remains optimistic about his performance.
Although he experienced an unexpected third-round exit at the US Open to Alexei Popyrin, Djokovic showed excellent form in Shanghai, reaching his fifth final at the ATP Masters 1000 event.
"I can definitely take away a lot of positives from this," Djokovic shared. "I felt my tennis was really solid throughout the tournament, probably the best I’ve played since the Olympics in terms of performance and fighting spirit."

While Djokovic admitted he wasn’t feeling completely fresh, he praised Sinner for handling the key moments better. "He deserved the win; he was just too strong when it mattered," he said.
Despite the loss, Djokovic remains confident in his game. "I played pretty well in the final, which gives me hope that I can still compete with the best. I just need to keep this level up in the coming months."
Missing out on his 100th career singles title in Shanghai, Djokovic acknowledged that reaching the milestone wasn’t his primary focus. "If it happens, great, but it’s not the end of the world. I wanted it to happen today, but it just wasn’t in the cards. I’ll keep pushing for it in the future."
Djokovic emphasized that his main goals have been accomplished, and now, his focus is on Grand Slams and continuing to push his limits. "At this point, it’s all about the Grand Slams and seeing how far I can go."
Next on his schedule, Djokovic will compete in the 'Six Kings Slam,' a tennis exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 16th to 19th. He will be joined by top talents such as Jannik Sinner, Rafa Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune.
