Eberechi Eze shines as Crystal Palace cruise past Fulham to reach FA Cup semi-finals

Eberechi Eze delivered a standout performance with a goal and an assist as Crystal Palace secured a commanding 3-0 victory over London rivals Fulham on Saturday, booking their spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Fresh off scoring his first goal for England earlier in the week, Eze stunned the home crowd in the 34th minute with a spectacular strike against the run of play. Just four minutes later, he turned provider, delivering a pinpoint cross from the left that Ismaila Sarr headed home to put Palace firmly in control.
Despite dominating possession in the second half, Fulham struggled to break through Palace’s defense. The visitors sealed the win in the 75th minute when substitute Eddie Nketiah, a former FA Cup winner with Arsenal, slotted a clinical finish past Bernd Leno.
With the victory, Oliver Glasner’s side can now dream of lifting the FA Cup for the first time in club history, reaching the semi-finals for the second time in four seasons. Meanwhile, Fulham must shift their focus to securing European football through the Premier League.
Much of the pre-match attention centered around Jean-Philippe Mateta, Palace’s top scorer this season, who returned to action wearing a protective mask after suffering a serious facial injury in the previous round. However, it was Eze who stole the show with his dazzling display.
"We're confident in ourselves and we know what we can do, we know what we are capable of," Eze said. "It's games like today where you show the mentality which will get you further in the tournament."
A historic setting for a crucial clash
London’s oldest football stadium, basking in spring sunshine along the River Thames, provided the perfect backdrop for the first FA Cup meeting between these two clubs since 1907. With many of the competition’s traditional powerhouses already eliminated, both sets of fans arrived with genuine hope of a historic cup run.
Fulham, runners-up in the 1975 FA Cup, dominated the early stages, with Rodrigo Muniz and Andreas Pereira both coming close to breaking the deadlock. But despite their attacking intent, Palace carried the greater threat in front of goal. Jefferson Lerma nearly opened the scoring with a stunning volley that struck the crossbar before Eze’s moment of brilliance put the visitors ahead.
Eze’s stunning strike, which rattled in off the far post, proved to be a devastating blow for Fulham. The hosts were still reeling when Sarr doubled Palace’s lead with a well-placed header moments later.
After the break, Fulham pushed forward in search of a response, with Willian nearly replicating Eze’s goal, only to be denied by Dean Henderson. Calvin Bassey also came close in a goalmouth scramble, but Palace’s defense held firm.
With Fulham struggling to find a way back, Nketiah’s composed finish in the closing stages ensured Palace’s passage to the semi-finals for the sixth time in their history.
Later on Saturday, Brighton and Hove Albion—another club yet to win the FA Cup—host Nottingham Forest as the competition’s final four begins to take shape.
