Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Bayer Leverkusen: Champions thump hosts to continue remarkable unbeaten season

Bayer Leverkusen extended their undefeated streak to an impressive 48 games in all competitions this season with a commanding 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. This win also put an end to their five-match losing streak in away head-to-head matches.
With the league title already secured and a place in the UEFA Europa League final within reach, Leverkusen's current form couldn't be better.
Despite their success, Leverkusen remained focused on maintaining their unbeaten record in the league. They wasted no time in asserting their dominance, as Granit Xhaka scored a powerful goal from outside the box within the first 15 minutes, giving them an early lead.
Shortly after, Leverkusen had a chance to double their advantage when Jonas Hofmann selflessly passed the ball to Exequiel Palacios, but a last-minute block from Willian Pacho prevented Frankfurt from falling further behind.
This crucial block proved significant, as Frankfurt managed to equalize just after the half-hour mark. A well-executed short-corner routine resulted in Hugo Ekitike scoring from Fares Chaibi's precise delivery, marking Frankfurt's first meaningful attack of the game.
Following the equalizer, the momentum shifted in Frankfurt's favor, and they continued to press forward as halftime approached. Omar Marmoush had a golden opportunity to put his team ahead, but he astonishingly missed the target despite being one-on-one with Lukas Hradecky and having plenty of space.
Frankfurt would soon regret this missed chance, as Patrik Schick capitalized on Adam Hlozek's delivery at the back post, scoring a powerful goal just before halftime.
Frankfurt found themselves trailing by just one goal, still very much in the game. However, their hopes were dashed when Niels Nkounkou's reckless move led to a penalty for Nathan Tella. Palacios converted the penalty, leaving Frankfurt with a significant deficit to overcome.
The task proved impossible as Leverkusen extended their lead with a goal from Jeremie Frimpong.
Despite Frankfurt's efforts to limit the damage, a penalty was awarded after Ansgar Knauff fouled Frimpong. Victor Boniface sealed the victory with another goal.
Leverkusen continues their impressive form, matching Benfica's long-standing unbeaten record. Their next challenge awaits against Roma, where they have the opportunity to make history once again.
