Emma Hayes, former Chelsea and current United States women’s national team (USWNT) head coach, has been awarded the first-ever Women's Coach of the Year at the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony. Hayes, celebrated for her strategic expertise and winning mentality, achieved remarkable success this year, leading Chelsea to a record-breaking seventh Women’s Super League title before stepping down to helm the USWNT.
Since joining the USWNT, Hayes has maintained an undefeated record, guiding the team to Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her decorated coaching career has earned her numerous accolades, including the top honor at FIFA’s The Best awards in 2021, marking her as one of the most influential figures in women’s football.
In a heartfelt acceptance speech, Hayes expressed gratitude toward the players and staff at both Chelsea and the USWNT, acknowledging the contributions of the teams she has led. "This award is for everyone who has been a part of the U.S. team and Chelsea,” Hayes remarked.
