Emma Raducanu embraces underdog role ahead of showdown with Iga Swiatek

Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu (22) is eagerly anticipating a match devoid of external pressures as she prepares to face world number two Iga Swiatek (23) on Saturday, marking her first advancement to the third round of the Australian Open.
Raducanu demonstrated resilience by overcoming an early deficit in both sets, taking a medical timeout before securing a 6-3, 7-5 victory against American Amanda Anisimova on Thursday, which set the stage for her encounter with the five-time Grand Slam champion.
"Swiatek is a top player who has shown remarkable consistency over the past few years," Raducanu remarked. "This match will be one where I feel little external expectation."
She added, "There is always the pressure one places on oneself to perform at their best, which remains constant, but that is true for every match."
"I am looking forward to the opportunity to test my skills against the best, as playing tennis is about these moments. The excitement and adrenaline will be fantastic."
Having never advanced past the second round at Melbourne Park, Raducanu initially struggled against Anisimova, falling behind in three of the first four games before rallying to win the first set 6-3.
She experienced a similarly slow start in the second set, requiring courtside treatment for what seemed to be a left hip issue, but she returned to secure the match in straight sets.
Following her consecutive victories, the injury-prone English player, who faced back issues leading up to the tournament, emphasized her intention to adopt a relaxed approach in her preparations for the match against Swiatek.
"I plan to take it easy tomorrow," she stated. "I will likely have a light practice session, nothing too intense."
"Having played a significant amount of tennis recently, I believe it is unnecessary to overexert myself on the practice court. My focus will be on maintaining my physical condition and ensuring proper recovery."
