Empoli 0-1 AS Roma: Giallorossi defeat hosts to extend winning streak to six

AS Roma maintained their aspirations for European competition with a narrow 1-0 victory over Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, marking the Giallorossi's sixth consecutive win.
Entering this match, Roma required a victory to sustain their pursuit of a top finish in the European spots. Having secured victories in their last three away league matches, the Giallorossi approached the game with confidence.
The match began favorably for Roma, as Claudio Ranieri's squad took the lead within the first minute. Matías Soulé received the ball just outside the penalty area and executed a brilliant left-footed shot that found the bottom-right corner.
Following their early goal, Roma faced a brief period of pressure but nearly extended their lead midway through the first half. Eldor Shomurodov set up Lorenzo Pellegrini in the penalty area, yet the midfielder's attempt went just wide of the left post.
As the match progressed, Shomurodov continued to trouble the Azzurri, striking the crossbar with a powerful shot from the center of the box after a precise pass from Pellegrini.
A few minutes later, Manu Koné also struck the woodwork, hitting the outside of the right post with a shot from inside the area.
In the second half, Roma dominated the play, although Empoli's defense held firm in the early stages to thwart the Giallorossi's offensive efforts.
With just over an hour gone, Roma had a prime opportunity to increase their lead, but Pellegrini's curling shot towards the top-right corner was expertly saved by Marco Silvestri.
Prior to this match, only three teams had scored fewer goals in Serie A this season than Empoli, and their performance in the second half underscored this statistic, as the Azzurri appeared to lack creativity and direction.
Empoli ultimately could not regain their footing in the match, as Roma successfully managed the remainder of the game, achieving a crucial victory in their quest for European qualification and now trailing sixth-placed Bologna by four points.
On the other hand, Empoli remains struggling in the bottom three of Serie A, currently two points away from safety.
