England part ways with white-ball head coach Mott, Trescothick appointed as interim

England's white-ball head coach Matthew Mott has resigned after their Twenty20 World Cup semi-final loss to eventual champions India last month, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday.
Marcus Trescothick, England's assistant coach, has been named as the interim replacement for the departing Australian.
During his tenure starting in May 2022, Mott, aged 50, led England to victory in the T20 World Cup that same year and secured white-ball series triumphs against Australia, Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
In a statement, Mott expressed his immense pride in coaching the England men's team, emphasizing the team's dedication and success, particularly their T20 World Cup win in 2022.
Former England cricketer Trescothick will take charge on an interim basis for the remainder of the home summer, which includes a white-ball series against Australia in September.
Rob Key, ECB managing director of England men's cricket, commended Mott's accomplishments, highlighting his World Cup victory and the need for a new direction for the team's future success after three World Cup cycles in a short period.
The ECB will now commence the search for a permanent replacement, ensuring a thorough process to select the most suitable candidate for the role.
