Englishman Colin Bell leaves post as South Korea women's football boss

Colin Bell, the English coach, has stepped down from his position as the head of South Korea's women's football team after nearly five years, the announcement came on Thursday from the football association.

Bell became the first foreign coach to lead South Korea's women's team in October 2019 and successfully guided them to the World Cup last year, although they were eliminated in the group stage with one draw and two losses.

During his time, Bell openly addressed the issues he observed within women's football in South Korea.

While at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, he introduced 16-year-old Casey Phair to the team, highlighting her unique qualities as a player. Bell emphasized the need for strong, fast, and physical players in the team.

The Korea Football Association confirmed that Bell's departure was a mutual decision, despite the fact that he still had six months remaining on his contract. Throughout his tenure, Bell led the team to 24 victories, 15 losses, and 10 draws.

With Bell's early departure, both the men's and women's national teams of South Korea are now without a coach.
