Erik Lamela to leave Sevilla as a free agent after three years at club

Erik Lamela, the former Tottenham forward, has officially departed from Sevilla after spending three years with the LaLiga club.
The Argentine international made the move to Sevilla in 2021, following an impressive eight-year stint at Spurs where he made 257 appearances and scored 37 goals in the Premier League.
During his time at Sevilla, the 32-year-old played a crucial role in their triumph as they secured their seventh Europa League title in 2023.
However, injuries hindered his performance last season, limiting him to only 19 appearances as the club finished 14th in LaLiga.
In a video released on the club's website on Tuesday, Lamela expressed his sentiments about the departure, acknowledging that farewells are always bittersweet for players.
He emphasized his understanding as a professional that these moments inevitably arise and mark the end of certain cycles.
Lamela also expressed his gratitude towards Sevilla, stating that winning the Europa League was a significant milestone that deeply resonated with him.
He vowed to never forget the experience and expressed his happiness in being able to give back to the club, even if it is just a small token of appreciation.
