European champions Spain have more to come, says coach De la Fuente

Despite this success, coach Luis de la Fuente believes there is still room for improvement and that the team has a promising future ahead.
After guiding Spain to their fourth Euros victory with a 2-1 win over England in Berlin, the 63-year-old coach expressed his desire for the players to continue growing and developing. He emphasized the importance of their relentless work ethic and determination to succeed, urging them to maintain their pride in their achievements.
The coach highlighted the potential of the current generation of players to make history and build a successful future for Spanish football. This was evident in the performance of young talents like Lamine Yamal (17) and Nico Williams (22), who combined for Spain's opening goal in the final.
It was a heartwarming moment for De la Fuente, who has been collaborating with the majority of his team for more than ten years since he started coaching Spain's youth teams in 2013.
Initially teased as "Luis de la Who?" upon being appointed to the senior team 18 months ago, he has introduced an aggressively attacking strategy, departing from the possession-oriented "tiki-taka" style that led Spain to victory in a World Cup and consecutive Euros.
"I aimed to enforce my own vision, a vision that I knew my players could execute on the field," De La Fuente stated.
"We aimed to be unpredictable. We sought to dominate the game with more dynamic scenarios and faster transitions, thanks to our very quick players.
"I was confident that my players believed in me because they demonstrated it, not just now but throughout this journey.
"They have been flawless; we have done nearly everything correctly. These footballers serve as a model for society due to the values they embody."
When questioned about his future, De la Fuente mentioned that he anticipates renewing his coaching contract when the time is right. He emphasized that his focus at the moment is on celebrating and feeling joy.
He also highlighted Spain's victories over top teams like Italy, Germany, France, and England on their path to success.
De la Fuente praised the players for their remarkable performance in the tournament, showcasing a level of assurance and self-belief rarely witnessed before.
