F1 Champion Max Verstappen Expecting First Child With Girlfriend Kelly Piquet

Max Verstappen, the reigning four-time Formula 1 world champion, is celebrating a personal milestone alongside his professional triumphs—he's about to become a father. Verstappen, 27, shared the joyous news on Instagram, announcing that he and his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, are expecting their first child together.

"A mini Verstappen-Piquet is on the way," the Red Bull driver wrote. "We couldn't be happier with our little miracle."

The announcement comes as Verstappen gears up for the final race of the season this weekend in Abu Dhabi, capping off a year where he clinched his fourth consecutive world title.

A Growing Family

Kelly Piquet, 35, the daughter of three-time Formula 1 world champion Nelson Piquet, has been in a relationship with Verstappen since October 2020. She already has a daughter, Penelope (born July 2019), from her previous relationship with former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat.

While Verstappen isn't Penelope's biological father, he shares a close bond with her.

"I’m not the father, that’s not the goal. It’s very important that she has a good relationship with her own father, and she does," Verstappen once explained. "But I see her every day when I’m home, and we get along really well."

Capping a Stellar Year

Verstappen’s incredible season, which included clinching his fourth world title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, has solidified his place in Formula 1 history. He now shares fourth place in the all-time rankings with Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel, trailing only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, who each have seven titles.

As the Formula 1 season concludes in Abu Dhabi, Verstappen's focus will shift to preparing for his new role as a father, adding another dimension to his remarkable life both on and off the track.
