FA Cup: Liverpool progress past wasteful Arsenal

In the early stages of this highly anticipated match, it was the home team that stood out. Reiss Nelson was particularly impressive, but unfortunately, he could only hit the side netting after receiving a precise long ball from Aaron Ramsdale and evading Alisson.
Nelson's next attempt was deflected wide after some skillful play by Martin Odegaard. Liverpool, dressed in purple, had little respite as they faced a barrage of goal attempts. The Norwegian playmaker, Odegaard, even struck the crossbar just a few minutes later.
Despite weathering the initial storm, it seemed inevitable that the visitors would retaliate. However, Darwin Nunez missed his first real chance by heading the ball past the post.
The momentum quickly shifted back to Liverpool after this rare bright moment, but Arsenal still struggled to find their shooting accuracy. Kai Havertz, in particular, missed several opportunities to score before the halftime whistle.
Late in the game, Trent Alexander-Arnold's powerful shot hit the crossbar. However, this did not change the fact that Mikel Arteta's team should have been leading by at least one goal at halftime.
Realizing that his team had been fortunate in the first 45 minutes, Jurgen Klopp made a tactical change by moving Nunez to the left side of the attack. Nunez cut inside and narrowly missed the target as Liverpool fought to avoid their first goalless result on hostile turf since April.
Despite Liverpool's resurgence, Arsenal regained control of the game. Bukayo Saka was to blame for their wastefulness, as he failed to redirect Havertz's cross on target.
Gabriel Martinelli brought energy to the game as a substitute, but Ramsdale's reflex save denied Luis Diaz at the near post, and Diogo Jota's header hit the crossbar, serving as warnings for Arsenal.
Ultimately, Liverpool secured the winning goal with only 10 minutes left in regular time, thanks to a moment of brilliance from Alexander-Arnold that sparked the decisive move.
