Four NHL players charged over alleged involvement in 2018 gang rape

Attorneys representing Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils, as well as Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers, have confirmed that these players are among the individuals facing charges.

According to media reports from Canada, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames is also allegedly involved in the reported assault. Another former player, Alex Formenton, who now plays in Switzerland, is said to be one of the individuals indicted. A total of eight players have been accused of sexually assaulting a young woman at a hotel in London, Ontario following a Hockey Canada gala in June 2018.

In response to the charges against Mike McLeod, his lawyers, David Humphrey and Seth Weinstein, stated, "More than five and a half years after the initial complaint (...) to the police, the London Police Department charged Mike McLeod with sexual assault." They further added that Mr. McLeod denies any criminal wrongdoing and intends to plead not guilty, vigorously defending himself.

Regarding Carter Hart, his attorneys Megan Savard and Riaz Sayani remarked, "He has been indicted for one count of sexual assault." They assert his innocence and state that he will provide a comprehensive response to this false allegation within the appropriate legal setting, namely a court of law.
