France overcome Norway to reach United Cup semi-finals

Looking ahead to the next day, Roger-Vasselin, the playing captain, acknowledged their need for rest, especially considering their age. "Tomorrow is going to be a day off. We are not that young anymore, especially me," he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of utilizing the day off to rest and enjoy Sydney before returning strong for the semi-final on Saturday.
Earlier in the tournament, Garcia, ranked 20th in the world, faced a tough challenge in her match against Helgo. After comfortably winning the first set, she encountered a scare in the second set tiebreaker. However, she managed to prevail with a 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 victory.
Reflecting on the match, Garcia described it as a "crazy" encounter, praising her opponent's strong performance. She expressed her emotions throughout the match and highlighted the need to find a way to secure the win.
In another singles match, Ruud secured a win for Norway by defeating Mannarino with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Mannarino struggled to find answers to Ruud's clinical game, narrowly avoiding a "bagel" in the first set.
With this victory, Norway earned a spot in the semi-final against top-seeded Poland. The other semi-final will be contested between Greece and Germany, with the winner facing Australia.
