Frankfurt 3-3 Dortmund: Julian Brandt strikes late to rescue point for Dortmund in six-goal thriller

Borussia Dortmund came from behind twice to earn a point in a six-goal thriller with Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park, extending their Bundesliga unbeaten streak to 17 games.

Frankfurt came close to taking an early lead when Hugo Larsson forced a fine save from Gregor Kobel, but Dortmund's relief was short-lived as a VAR call summoned the referee to the monitor, where he saw a Marius Wolf handball and pointed to the spot.

Omar Marmoush sent his penalty straight down the middle to give the hosts the lead.

The Deutsche Bank Park was bouncing, and the noise level increased when Aurelio Buta tested Kobel twice before Marmoush scored at the third time of asking.

It was Kobel's final participation as he had to leave the game through injury. Alexander Meyer, his replacement, was soon in the thick of the action when he came out to meet Marmoush as he closed in on a hat-trick, but a VAR review ruled in Dortmund's favor and no penalty was awarded.

Marcel Sabitzer pulled one back for the visitors with a sweet low strike, but there was no time to catch your breath in over eight minutes of stoppage time as Marmoush was denied a hat-trick by the post and Füllkrug and Mats Hummels both came close to equalizing.

After both teams had a chance to catch their breath, the action resumed, with Marmoush going close to completing his hat-trick, turning wide after Meyer made a fine reflex save on Ansgar Knauff.

Soon after, Dortmund equalized when half-time substitute Youssoufa Moukoko slotted a low shot past Trapp, and the pendulum began to swing in their favor.

Marco Reus almost put the visitors ahead for the first time, but Trapp deflected his effort for a corner, and then Farès Chaibi turned the tide with a neat finish past Meyer for his first Bundesliga goal.

It was not, however, the final twist of a thrilling game, as Dortmund substitutes Karim Adeyemi and Brandt combined for another equaliser.
