Frauen-Bundesliga: Bayern beat Wolfsburg 2-1 to go top

FC Bayern Women beat VfL Wolfsburg 2-1 on Sunday afternoon with goals coming from Linda Dahlmann and Klara Bühl. Lena Oberdorf pulled one back for Wolfsburg but the defending champions were able to see out the game.

Bayern now leads the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga table with 14 points from six games, one more than Wolfsburg.

The FC Bayern Campus crowd of 4,347 saw Bayern in control from the start. After only seven minutes, Bühl teed up Sarah Zadrazil for the first big chance. Two minutes later, Georgia Stanway had a shot from distance, but Wolfsburg's Lisa Schmitz saved it.

After 28 minutes, Bayern's dominance was rewarded. Schmitz saved a Bühl shot, and Dallmann came in to mop up and open the scoring.

Ten minutes later, Bayern added a second. Bayern refused to back down and quickly gained possession in Wolfsburg's half, with Bühl's fine low effort finding the far corner of the net from 18 yards.

In the second half, Bayern continued where they left off, earning a penalty following Maria-Koelle Wedemeyer's challenge on Lea Schüller, but Jovana Damnjanovi hit the crossbar. Moments later,
Bühl also hit the post.

After the hour mark, the visitors pulled one back when Oberdorf let fly from a distance.

Bayern were dissatisfied and went in search of a third goal. Wolfsburg looked to strike on the break as Bayern dominated possession. The match faded out and Bayern were able to see out the victory.
