Frustrated Lisandro Martinez laments Manchester United's wasted chances in West Ham loss

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez expressed his disappointment following the team's 2-1 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday, marking their fourth loss in nine Premier League fixtures.

The Argentine, who joined the club in 2022, lamented the missed opportunities in the first half, particularly noting Alejandro Garnacho's shot that struck the crossbar and a remarkable save by Lukasz Fabianski that thwarted Casemiro.

"We performed well in the first half, but our level dropped in the second half," Martinez stated in an interview with MUTV.

"I detest losing, and this defeat is particularly hard to swallow; it is not the standard we aspire to at this club."

Currently, United has secured only three victories in the league, placing them 14th with a total of 11 points.

"I am genuinely frustrated... we squandered numerous chances, and it is challenging to come to terms with that, but we must," the defender remarked.

"We will do everything in our power to elevate this club to where it rightfully belongs."

United's next league match will be against Chelsea on Sunday, following a League Cup encounter with Leicester City on Wednesday.
