Fulham strike late to edge Chelsea in fiery West London Derby

Fulham claimed a dramatic 2–1 victory over Chelsea in a heated West London derby, punishing their neighbours late on in a match defined by intensity, controversy and a crucial red card.
The win marked only Fulham’s third victory in their last 29 meetings with the Blues and extended Marco Silva’s side’s impressive unbeaten run, while Chelsea’s struggles deepened as they slipped further down the table.

Fulham set the tone almost immediately. Just 90 seconds in, Harry Wilson found space inside the box but rushed his effort, allowing Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez to save comfortably.
Enzo Fernández’s corner caused chaos in the Fulham area, with Bernd Leno forced into an awkward clearance. The hosts continued to press. Wilson tested Sánchez again, while Tom Cairney saw a goalbound effort blocked. Another Fernández corner led to further danger as Andrey Santos struck the crossbar before Sander Berge heroically blocked Moisés Caicedo’s follow-up on the line.
Cucurella sent off as tempers flare
The match turned decisively in the 22nd minute. A poor Chelsea corner allowed Leno to launch a quick counter, sending Wilson through on goal. Marc Cucurella, making his first start after injury, brought him down after being beaten for pace and was shown a straight red card.
The decision sparked furious protests, with three Chelsea players and Fulham manager Marco Silva booked for dissent. Despite the chaos, Fulham failed to capitalise immediately, as Wilson’s free kick and Raúl Jiménez’s rebound were both blocked.
The half ended goalless, with Fulham seeing a stoppage-time goal ruled out after Jiménez was adjudged offside in the build-up.
Jiménez breaks the deadlock
Silva made an early change at the break, introducing Jorge Cuenca for Kevin Mbabu, and Fulham came out with renewed intent. Wilson went close again, his deflected shot narrowly missing the target.
Chelsea threatened briefly when Jorrel Hato headed over from a corner, but Fulham soon found the breakthrough. In the 53rd minute, Jiménez rose highest to meet Berge’s cross, powering a header into the bottom corner to give the hosts a deserved lead.
Chelsea respond despite being down to 10
Chelsea showed resilience despite their numerical disadvantage. Kevin Mbabu fired into the side netting at one end, while Leno produced a superb spell of goalkeeping at the other, denying Liam Delap, Caicedo and Cole Palmer in quick succession.
The Blues eventually equalised in the 72nd minute. Pedro Neto’s corner was flicked on by Antonee Robinson onto the post, and Delap reacted quickest to bundle the ball home.
Wilson delivers late drama
Parity lasted just nine minutes. Fulham regained the lead when Wilson collected the ball on the edge of the area and unleashed a shot that took a slight deflection off Reece James, wrong-footing Sánchez and sending Craven Cottage into celebration. The late goal sealed a famous derby victory and ensured Fulham remained unbeaten in six consecutive Premier League matches.
Table Implications
The result lifts Fulham up to eighth place, level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea but trailing on goal difference. For the Blues, it was a fifth consecutive league match without a win, leaving them overtaken by Brentford and under increasing pressure.
