Gabriel and Timber could miss Arsenal's clash with Real Madrid

Arsenal may be without centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes for the upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, as indicated by manager Mikel Arteta on Tuesday. The Brazilian player exited the pitch during their 2-1 victory over Fulham due to a hamstring issue.

Gabriel left the field limping just 15 minutes into the Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, adding to Arteta's injury woes, which have already seen several key players sidelined for extended periods this challenging season.

Additionally, Dutch full-back Jurrien Timber was substituted in the second half after experiencing discomfort in his knee.

Arteta informed reporters following the match that both players would undergo assessments on Wednesday to determine the severity of their injuries.

"Gabby felt something in his hamstring, we don't know how big that is," Arteta said. "Jurrien was struggling very early in the game, he managed to continue but at some point he couldn't."

He expressed his disappointment over Arsenal suffering four defensive injuries within just a week.

Riccardo Calafiori, 22, sustained an injury while on international duty with Italy, and right-back Ben White is sidelined again after having limited playtime throughout the season.

When asked if he had ever faced such significant injury challenges before, Arteta replied, "No... but it is what it is."

Additionally, another full-back, Takehiro Tomiyasu, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, along with forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who are dealing with hamstring and cruciate ligament injuries, respectively.

The Gunners will face Everton away on Saturday and will host Real Madrid on April 8 in a vital Champions League match, which presents the London club with their best opportunity for silverware this season.
