Galatasaray confirm loan signing of Spain international Álvaro Morata from AC Milan

Alvaro Morata, aged 32, has officially joined Galatasaray on a loan deal from AC Milan, as announced by the Turkish champions on Sunday.

Galatasaray confirmed on their website that an agreement had been established with AC Milan. The loan arrangement is set to continue until January 20, 2026, at which point the club will have the option to purchase or extend the loan.

The club disclosed that they have paid a temporary transfer fee of six million euros to Milan, and Morata will earn three million euros for the remainder of the current season.

In a presentation, Morata was seen donning the club's distinctive yellow and red halved jersey. He expressed his commitment, stating, "I will do my best as long as I wear the Galatasaray jersey. It is a very nice jersey." He further assured fans, "I can promise that I will give my all on the field and fight for the jersey."

The Spanish captain departed Milan after a lackluster performance since his transfer from Atletico Madrid, where he was brought in to replace the beloved Olivier Giroud. During his time at Milan, Morata managed to score only six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions, as the team currently occupies the eighth position in Serie A, preparing for a local derby against champions Inter Milan.

Milan is expected to announce the signing of Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord for a reported fee of 32 million euros, with the Mexican striker arriving in northern Italy on Saturday night to finalize the transfer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, serving as an advisor for Milan's owners, US Investment Fund RedBird, remarked, "We have invested a lot during this transfer window, with (Davide) Calabria leaving and (Kyle) Walker arriving in defense, and Alvaro leaving with Gimenez arriving in attack."

Galatasaray currently leads the Turkish Super Lig, holding a six-point advantage over their Istanbul rivals, Fenerbahce.
