Garnacho joins Chelsea from Man United in £40m deal

Chelsea have finalized the signing of Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho on a seven-year contract, the Premier League club confirmed on Saturday. The £40 million transfer stands as Manchester United’s fourth-largest sale, following Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku, and Angel di Maria.
Garnacho, 21, signed a long-term deal running through 2032, and spoke of his excitement upon joining: “It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started.” “I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”
Last season at United, he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists, making a total of 144 appearances and netting 26 times across all competitions. He was among five players seeking exits this summer, alongside Marcus Rashford—who moved to Barcelona on loan—Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho.
Chelsea, fresh off a 2-0 win against Fulham, will now integrate Garnacho into their squad as they prepare to face Brentford on September 13.
