Genoa 0-3 Juventus: Vlahovic bags brace as Juve breeze past hosts to go top of Serie A

Juventus ascended to the pinnacle of the Serie A standings following a decisive 3-0 triumph over Genoa, with Dusan Vlahovic contributing significantly by scoring two goals, thereby leaving Il Grifone without a home victory this season.

The first half was notably uneventful, as both teams struggled to create scoring opportunities, managing only four shots combined in the initial 45 minutes.

Juventus aimed to secure their first Serie A goal since their win against Verona in late August, and they came close to doing so just after the half-hour mark. Vlahovic, who had scored their last league goal, took a free-kick from a favorable position but sent it just over the crossbar.

Despite a sluggish start to the season, with only one win from their first five matches, Genoa would have been satisfied to keep Juventus at bay for a time.

However, the dynamics shifted just three minutes into the second half when Koni De Winter committed a handball in the penalty area. Vlahovic confidently converted the penalty, granting Thiago Motta’s team the lead.

Having been sent off in his previous encounter against Genoa, the Serbian forward sought redemption and found the net again just seven minutes later. He skillfully connected with a pass from Teun Koopmeiners and finished with his left foot into the bottom right corner, extending the lead to 2-0.

Genoa could only muster a couple of shots on target in reply, and Francisco Conceicao's goal in the final minute of regular time sealed a comfortable victory for Juventus.

Ultimately outmatched, Il Grifone now sits in 16th place, perilously close to the relegation zone, while Juventus relishes their position at the top of the table for the time being.
