Genoa 1-1 Juventus: Juve miss out on top spot after stalemate

Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw at Genoa, as Federico Chiesa's first-half penalty was cancelled out by Albert Gudmundsson after the break, leaving the visitors a point behind the leaders in Serie A.

Massimiliano Allegri's team is second on the table with 37 points, one point behind Inter Milan, who visit Lazio on Sunday. Genoa are 14th in the table with 16 points, four points above the relegation zone.

Chiesa scored from the penalty spot after being brought down by goalkeeper Josep Martinez after 28 minutes, giving the visitors the lead.

Genoa equalized three minutes into the second half after a fine passing move set up Gudmundsson in front of goal, where he fired past keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Juventus came within a whisker of a late winner, but Martinez made a brilliant save to deny Bremer's close-range effort following a corner.

Next Saturday, Juventus travel to mid-table Frosinone.
