Getafe 1-1 Barcelona: Barca's winless streak in LaLiga extends to four

Barcelona’s struggles in LaLiga continued on Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Getafe, stretching their winless run in the league to four matches. Mauro Arambarri’s equalizer nullified Jules Kounde’s opener, leaving the Catalan giants third in the standings with 39 points. They now trail second-placed Real Madrid by four points and league leaders Atletico Madrid by five.

Jules Kounde gave Barcelona an early lead in the 9th minute, finishing from close range after a precise pass from Pedri. The French full-back made an intelligent diagonal run into the box to meet Pedri’s ball but was initially denied by Getafe goalkeeper David Soria. However, Soria failed to hold on, allowing Kounde to convert the rebound.

Barcelona had chances to double their advantage, including a missed close-range header by Raphinha from a Kounde cross. Just a minute later, Getafe capitalized on their opportunity. Inaki Pena parried a Coba da Costa volley into the path of Mauro Arambarri, who tapped home the rebound to level the score.

Despite dominating possession, Barcelona struggled to break through Getafe’s resolute five-man defensive line. Key attackers like Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha had a subdued evening, with limited impact in the final third.

The visitors’ best chance in the second half came from substitute Frenkie de Jong, whose curling strike was brilliantly saved by Soria. Raphinha also missed another clear-cut opportunity from close range, compounding Barca’s frustrations.

Notably, Kounde’s goal ended Barcelona’s scoring drought at Getafe’s Coliseum, where they had failed to score in their previous four league visits. However, their last win at the venue dates back to September 2019, highlighting their struggles in South Madrid.

This latest result adds to Barcelona’s inconsistent season under Hansi Flick, as they remain without a league victory since defeating Mallorca in early December.

Expressing his frustration after the match, Jules Kounde told Movistar Plus:
"I am very frustrated. It's a pity the draw. We had control of the game and on one occasion they scored a goal. It's a pity... we have not got it right... We had opportunities but we didn't take them."

Barcelona will need to rediscover their form quickly to remain competitive in the title race, as their recent performances have left fans and analysts questioning their consistency.
