Giannis Antetokounmpo to miss NBA All-Star game due to calf injury

Milwaukee's star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, aged 30, is currently sidelined due to a left calf strain and will not participate in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game. Bucks coach Doc Rivers indicated on Sunday that it is improbable for Antetokounmpo to return to play prior to the event.
The Greek forward has been absent for the past week, and Rivers confirmed that Antetokounmpo will miss next Sunday’s NBA All-Star festivities, with no expectation of his return before that date.
"We have been closely monitoring his condition, but it has not improved sufficiently for him to take the court," Rivers stated. "If this were a playoff game, he would likely play. However, since it is not, we must prioritize his health for the playoffs."
While the team would greatly benefit from his presence, Rivers emphasized the importance of making prudent decisions regarding his recovery. "Ultimately, ensuring his health is our top priority," he added.
Antetokounmpo missed his fourth consecutive game on Sunday during the Bucks' matchup against Philadelphia, and it is anticipated that this absence will extend to six games with upcoming contests against Golden State on Monday and Minnesota on Wednesday.
Rivers expressed hope that Antetokounmpo will return for Milwaukee's first game following the All-Star break, scheduled for February 20th at home against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Currently, Antetokounmpo ranks second in the NBA, averaging 31.8 points per game, along with 12.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 blocked shots.
In his absence this season, the Bucks have recorded a 4-5 record. With a current standing of 27-23, the Bucks are positioned fifth in the Eastern Conference, having suffered losses in six of their last eight games.
