Girona 2-0 Osasuna: Girona get back to winning ways against Osasuna

Girona responded well after losing an away match to RCD Mallorca by defeating CA Osasuna 2-0 at home, securing their position in second place in LaLiga and achieving their third straight clean sheet at home.
Girona initiated the match with a clear purpose, aiming to break the deadlock within the first 15 minutes at a wet Estadi Montilivi.
Viktor Tsygankov executed a clever reverse pass that perfectly connected with Portu's well-timed run, resulting in a composed finish past Sergio Herrera to mark his fourth goal of the season in the league.
Struggling to cope with Girona's early dominance, Osasuna had to wait until the 29th minute to unleash their first threatening shot, as Johan Mojica's long-range effort narrowly missed the left post, much to the relief of Paulo Gazzaniga.
The hosts managed to maintain a slight advantage until halftime after withstanding the pressure. The Blanquivermells believed they deserved a chance to double their lead shortly after the hour mark when Savio was brought down by Alejandro Catena, but the referee remained unmoved.
The game continued with a corner kick, which was met by Artem Dovbyk, only to be denied by Herrera's quick reflexes.
In the final 15 minutes, Yan Couto attempted a shot with his left foot towards the near post, but it was easily saved by the diving Osasuna goalkeeper.
Substitute Cristhian Stuani missed a crucial opportunity to secure victory, firing over the bar from a promising one-on-one situation.
Despite a disallowed goal for a foul on Sávio in the 85th minute, Girona managed to score a legitimate goal moments later when the Brazilian combined with Aleix García to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
With a second consecutive home win, Míchel's team now sits just four points behind Real Madrid, who will face RC Celta de Vigo on Sunday. On the other hand, Osasuna remains in 10th place after their four-game unbeaten streak was halted.
