Girona 4-3 Atletico Madrid: Girona win seven-goal thriller despite Morata's hat-trick

Girona earned a dramatic 4-3 home win against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, keeping them level on points with Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga.
Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick as Atletico fought back from 3-1 down to draw level, but Martin showed superb close control before firing into the top corner to snatch the three points and maintain Girona's stunning start to the season.
Surprise package Girona now have 48 points, same as Real Madrid, which defeated Mallorca 1-0 earlier in the day. With 38 points, Atletico Madrid maintains third place.
Girona took the lead two minutes in with Valery Fernandez curling in a great shot from the edge of the box, but Atletico leveled in the 14th minute through Morata.
Girona's high pressing paid off as they stole the ball from Atletico's Koke before Savio scored on the second attempt in the 26th minute to make it 2-1.
Dutch defender Daley Blind extended the hosts' lead with a tap-in in the 39th minute, before Morata pulled one back for Atletico with a fine solo run in the final minute of the first half.
Morata equalized again in the 53rd minute, firing home from inside the box, but Martin sealed the win for Girona with a brilliant strike.
Girona and Atletico Madrid begin their Spanish Cup campaigns against Elche and Lugo, respectively, on Saturday.
