Desmond Bane showcased his skills with an impressive 27-point performance, leading the Memphis Grizzlies to their second victory of the season as they defeated the struggling Los Angeles Clippers 105-101 on Sunday.

Memphis, currently 2-8, is eagerly awaiting the return of All-Star guard Ja Morant next month after a 25-game suspension. Both of the Grizzlies' wins this season have been secured on the road, a testament to their resilience.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins praised his team's focus, stating, "Our guys were pretty dialed in. We tried to make it extremely tough on these guys, and the defense set the tone."

Luke Kennard made a significant impact off the bench against his former team, contributing 13 points, including four crucial 3-pointers. Memphis collectively made 13 shots from beyond the arc, while the Clippers managed only seven out of 12 in the fourth quarter.

Despite the Clippers' efforts, with Paul George scoring 26 points, Norman Powell adding 20, and Russell Westbrook posting 12 points, nine rebounds, and five assists on his 35th birthday, the team suffered its fifth consecutive loss. This defeat also marked their first loss at home in four games.

Clippers coach Tyronn Lue acknowledged room for improvement, saying, "I saw some intriguing things, but we just got to be better."

James Harden, who came off the bench, contributed 11 points and hit a crucial tying 3-pointer with 1:33 left. However, he missed another shot in the closing seconds, extending the Clippers' winless streak to four games since his recent trade to the team.

The Grizzlies faced a challenge in the fourth quarter, being outscored 33-26, but managed to secure the victory by making 6 of 8 free throws in the final minutes.

Memphis took control early in the game, making seven 3-pointers in the first quarter and establishing a 13-point lead. The Clippers struggled to recover, committing three turnovers in the opening minutes and never managing to take the lead.

Looking ahead, the Grizzlies will face the Lakers on Tuesday night for their second game of the In-Season Tournament, while the Clippers are set to visit the Denver Nuggets for their next matchup.
