Guardiola and Wiegman among finalists for FIFA Best men's and women's coach awards

Guardiola remains a strong contender for the women's coach award, having guided Manchester City to victory in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League last season. However, Wiegman, a three-time winner, currently holds the title after leading England to yet another major final at the Women's World Cup. Although they lost to Spain in the summit clash, Wiegman's impressive performance cannot be overlooked.

Another candidate for the women's coach award is Jonatan Giraldez, who steered the Barcelona women's team to the league title with an outstanding record of just one loss throughout the season. Additionally, they secured their second Champions League crown, further solidifying Giraldez's credentials.

Emma Hayes, the coach of Chelsea, completes the trio of finalists in the women's category. Hayes had a successful season, guiding her team to victory in the FA Women's Super League and the FA Cup. However, it is worth noting that Hayes will be leaving Chelsea in May to assume the role of head coach for the United States women's national team.

In the men's category, Guardiola faces competition from Simone Inzaghi, who led Inter Milan to the Champions League final and also secured the Coppa Italia. The third finalist is Luciano Spalletti, who ended Napoli's 33-year Scudetto drought by clinching the Serie A title with five games to spare.

The winners of these prestigious awards will be announced on January 15th in London, where they will be crowned for their exceptional achievements in the world of football coaching.
