Serhou Guirassy scored a Bundesliga-record 14th goal in VfB Stuttgart's 3-0 victory over Union Berlin on Saturday before being taken off injured, keeping his club in second place, one point behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

With Stuttgart's first real chance of the game, the Guinea international put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute, heading in unopposed from a perfectly-timed cross.

He is the first player in Bundesliga history to score 14 goals in the first eight games.

Union, who play Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday and have now lost their last eight games in all competitions, including six straight in the Bundesliga, picked up the pace after the break.

They had a great chance to equalize in the 79th minute, but David Fofana fired over from close range, before Stuttgart struck on the break two minutes later, with Silas Katompa Mvumpabut slotting in for 2-0.

After Union was caught napping again, Deniz Udav put the game away in the 88th minute.
