Hollywood star Will Ferrell reportedly invests in Championship club Leeds

According to reports on Sunday, Hollywood star Will Ferrell (56) has recently invested in Championship club Leeds. Ferrell has acquired a significant stake in the US-based 49ers Enterprises group, which owns Leeds' Elland Road side.
This makes him the latest celebrity to join the likes of Russell Crowe, Michael Phelps, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas as an investor in the club.
Last year, Spieth and Thomas purchased minority shares in Leeds, who were once English champions.
Ferrell, who is also a co-owner of Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC, expressed his admiration for English football during a visit to watch Manchester City's victory over Aston Villa last season.
He even attended matches involving Wrexham, QPR, and Sunderland on the same trip.
Wrexham, a Welsh club recently promoted to the third tier, is owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who started the trend of celebrities investing in British teams.
Other notable celebrities who have invested in British clubs include Michael B. Jordan, who became a part-owner of Premier League side Bournemouth in 2022, and Tom Brady, a former NFL quarterback who invested in Birmingham, a team that was relegated to the third tier on Saturday.
With an estimated worth of over £100 million ($125 million), Ferrell is widely recognized for his appearances on Saturday Night Live and his roles in popular movies such as Elf and Anchorman.
Leeds narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League on the final day of the Championship season, and now they will aim to secure promotion through the play-offs. Their first leg of the semi-final will be against Norwich at Carrow Road next Sunday.
