Houston Texans cruise to victory as crisis deepens for Dallas Cowboys

Joe Mixon achieved a remarkable feat by scoring three touchdowns as the Houston Texans secured a commanding 34-10 victory against the struggling Dallas Cowboys on Monday.
The running back made a significant impact early in the game, rushing for two touchdowns in the first quarter, which established a 14-0 lead for Houston and set the stage for a comfortable win.
Mixon later added a third touchdown in the fourth quarter, further exacerbating the challenges faced by the Cowboys, a franchise renowned in the NFL.
"I strive to be the best player and teammate I can be," Mixon stated in an interview with ESPN.
"My goal is to carry the team and lead us to success," he continued, concluding the game with 109 rushing yards on 20 carries.
Prior to the game, the Cowboys experienced a scare when a large metal sheet fell from the ceiling of their $1.3 billion AT&T Stadium as the retractable roof was opened for the first time since 2022.
This incident was interpreted by many commentators as a symbol of the Cowboys' dismal season, which, following Monday's defeat, left them with a record of 3-7, lacking a home victory and any realistic hope of making the playoffs.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his confusion regarding the team's ongoing six-game home losing streak.
"I can't pinpoint anything beyond the obvious, which is that we are simply not performing well," Jones remarked to the media.
Dallas did manage to elicit a cheer from their home crowd when KaVontae Turpin caught a 64-yard pass from Cooper Rush, scoring a touchdown in the second quarter that narrowed the score to 14-7.
Kickers Ka'Imi Fairbairn of the Texans and Brandon Aubrey of the Cowboys exchanged field goals, resulting in a 17-10 lead for Houston at halftime.
Fairbairn then increased Houston's advantage to 10 points with his second field goal in the third quarter, bringing the score to 20-10.
The situation deteriorated for Dallas in the fourth quarter when Houston's Derek Barnett sprinted 28 yards into the end zone for a touchdown, following a humorous blunder by the Cowboys that resulted in two fumbles on the same play.
This increased the score to 27-10, and the Cowboys' unfortunate evening persisted as quarterback Rush was sacked for the fifth time, leading to a turnover on downs. Houston subsequently capitalized on this opportunity, setting the stage for Mixon's final touchdown.
