Hungary's Barnabas Varga has surgery and can leave hospital on Wednesday

Hungary's forward Barnabas Varga underwent a successful surgical procedure on Monday following a facial fracture sustained during Sunday's 1-0 victory over Scotland at EURO 2024.
The injury occurred when he collided with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn in the penalty area after 68 minutes, resulting in him being knocked unconscious and requiring immediate medical attention.
After being transported to the hospital, Varga was in a stable condition prior to his surgery on Monday.
The Hungarian football federation stated, "As per the medical specialists at the institution, the surgery was uncomplicated, and the forward ... is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday," on X.
Varga's girlfriend posted a photo of herself holding his hand in the hospital along with a message expressing gratitude for the supportive messages received. She mentioned, "Thank you for the kind, supportive messages. Barni is over the surgery. A little rest awaits him, but everything will be fine."
Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai had voiced his dissatisfaction with the medical staff for the delay in providing treatment to Varga on the field during the Group A match.
Varga will be unable to participate in the remainder of Hungary's campaign if they advance to the knockout stage.
The victory against Scotland secured Hungary's third-place finish in their group, but their qualification as one of the top four third-place finishers is contingent on other match outcomes.
