ICC Champions Trophy: Rachin Ravindra eager to face India in final dead rubber match

Rachin Ravindra is eager to participate in New Zealand's inconsequential match against India, following his impressive century against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy upon his return to the team.

As New Zealand has already secured a place in the semi-finals, the selectors have the option to rest certain players for the final group stage encounter against India in Dubai on Sunday.

Ravindra missed the Black Caps' opening match against Pakistan due to a head injury and is determined not to miss another opportunity to play in the ICC tournament.

"Conversations haven't really been had around that. But in a tournament like this, I guess you want to play as many games as you can," the 25-year-old left-hander told reporters on Wednesday.

"And the nature of my injury before is meaning I've missed some games.

"So I'll do whatever the team wants but I'd be keen to get out there and hopefully do my thing."

Ravindra's tournament preparations faced an interruption when he sustained a head injury from a ball during a fielding incident, necessitating his adherence to concussion protocols.

Upon his return to the team, he achieved a score of 112 against Bangladesh while batting at the number four position, filling in for Daryl Mitchell, who was sidelined due to illness.

Ravindra remarked that all-rounder Mitchell was "definitely progressing well" in his recovery and that the team appreciated having a few days to rest.

However, as game day approached against India, the players were eager to compete in the inconsequential match.

"I guess you don't really want to take games for granted ever," he said.

"I think we can treat it like a game in an international tournament, right?

"So there's still a lot to play for, the first spot in the semi-finals."
