Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys secure their spot at the Madrid Open semi-finals

Iga Swiatek made a strong comeback after losing the first set to defeat Beatriz Haddad Maia and secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open.

The top-ranked player in the world found her rhythm in the second set and went on to win the match with a score of 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.

This was the first set that Swiatek had dropped in the tournament, but she responded emphatically by winning the second set without conceding a single break point.

In the deciding set, Swiatek broke her opponent's serve early on and despite a brief comeback from Haddad Maia, she ultimately won four of the next five games to complete her comeback.

Swiatek has now won their last three encounters, having lost their first meeting in 2022. In the semi-finals,

Swiatek will face Madison Keys, who defeated Ons Jabeur in a thrilling three-set match. Keys, the 18th seed, initially struggled in the first set but fought back strongly to secure her place in the semi-finals for the first time in Madrid.
