Iga Swiatek brings Naomi Osaka's former coach, Wim Fissette, onto her team

World number one Iga Swiatek, aged 23, has announced the addition of Belgian coach Wim Fissette to her team.

Fissette has previously coached elite players such as Naomi Osaka, Kim Clijsters, and Victoria Azarenka. This announcement was made by the Polish athlete on Thursday.

Earlier this month, Swiatek concluded her three-year partnership with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski. Wiktorowski had been part of her team since the beginning of the 2022 season and played a significant role in her success, including four of her five Grand Slam titles, three of which were at the French Open.

"I am pleased to share that Wim Fissette is joining our team," Swiatek stated on the social media platform X.

"As I prepare for the WTA Finals, my focus remains on the long-term rather than the immediate future. I have often expressed that my career is a marathon, not a sprint, and I approach my work and decisions with this mindset.

"I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to work with Wim. He possesses a remarkable attitude, vision, and extensive experience at the highest levels of tennis.

Building a strong rapport is essential, and we have made a positive start. I eagerly anticipate competing soon."
