Iga Swiatek defeats Coco Gauff in straight sets to stay undefeated in the WTA Finals

Iga Swiatek defeated an out-of-sorts Coco Gauff 6-0 6-4 in windy conditions at the WTA Finals in Cancun on Wednesday.
Swiatek is now 2-0, but has not officially qualified for the semifinals after Ons Jabeur defeated Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets.
Swiatek defeated Gauff for the ninth time in ten meetings, all in straight sets. Gauff ended Swiatek's 0-for-7 streak in the Cincinnati semifinals, but their last two matches have been one-sided.
The first set was a disaster for Gauff, who appeared unnerved by the windy conditions at Estadio Paradisus. Swiatek's shots in the wind were far better calibrated as she attacked Gauff's sometimes faulty forehand.
Gauff's frustration grew as she bounced her racquet off the court and threw up her hands after another errant forehand.
Gauff won four of sixteen serve points and was broken three times. She was down a set in just 28 minutes.
It was the tournament's fifth 6-0 set in the first seven singles matches.
The teenager's second set was an impressive reset. She created two break points, one of which she converted, and raced out to a 3-1 lead.
Swiatek focused on Gauff's forehand throughout the match, which she hit an average of 6 mph slower than her backhand.
The second set featured five breaks in total. Gauff struck four consecutive double faults while serving for the set. Swiatek broke Gauff for the third time in a row with an overhead that found the net on match point.
Gauff struggled statistically, serving 10 times with six breaks by Swiatek. The American had only five winners to go along with 30 unforced errors. Swiatek was 11 and 23 and was only broken once.
