Ingram, Williamson Power The Pelicans To A 129-93 Win Over Sacramento Kings

In a stunning showcase of prowess, Brandon Ingram displayed impeccable accuracy, sinking all five of his 3-point attempts and spearheading the scoring chart with a remarkable 31 points. Meanwhile, Zion Williamson established his dominance in the paint, notching 26 points on a phenomenal 12-for-16 shooting spree. Their collective brilliance fueled the New Orleans Pelicans to an emphatic 129-93 triumph over the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.

Reflecting on this standout performance, New Orleans coach Willie Green expressed his satisfaction, particularly highlighting the Pelicans’ season-high tally of 38 assists. "Tonight offered a glimpse of our potential," Green remarked. "Zion and B.I. are consistently capable of this level of play. Witnessing their continuous growth and synergy is truly gratifying."

Ingram echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the ongoing development of their offensive chemistry with Williamson, acknowledging the interruptions caused by injuries in recent seasons. "It's about communication," Ingram explained. "When one of us finds our rhythm, we support that. I caught fire in the third quarter, but it's about patience and finding the best opportunities on the court. We have the time and understanding to complement each other's game."

The Pelicans encountered a brief setback, trailing 47-43 in the second quarter, only to mount an astonishing 44-10 scoring spree spanning the second and third quarters, propelling them to an 87-57 lead.

Despite efforts from Sacramento's Harrison Barnes, who scored 16 points, and De’Aaron Fox, contributing 14, the Kings faltered. Fox, alongside Donatus Sabonis, recording 10 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, found themselves sidelined in the final quarter.

Addressing the loss, Fox refused to attribute it to the Kings playing a back-to-back, asserting, "Back-to-back games are part of the routine. We just didn't perform well. They played a good game, and we didn't. However, we're gearing up for our next encounter in two days."

The Kings faced setbacks beyond the scoreline, with Keegan Murray sustaining a lower back injury, sidelining him for the second half, and Chris Duarte exiting due to a left hand injury.

Sacramento coach Mike Brown conceded to the Pelicans' dominance, admitting, "From start to finish, they outplayed us. We couldn't muster any resistance, especially against Zion, who was unstoppable tonight. Ingram's hot streak compounded our struggles against him."

Williamson’s spectacular performance in the second quarter, racking up 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting, set the tone for the Pelicans' commanding 66-53 halftime lead. Ingram's outside shooting prowess further compounded Sacramento's woes, contributing 18 points in the third quarter alone, as New Orleans surged to a 34-16 quarter win, breaking the Kings’ six-game winning streak.

As Ingram excelled from beyond the arc, Williamson capitalized on his driving ability, overwhelming the Sacramento defense with his left-handed drives in the paint. "There's been significant progress," Williamson remarked. "Our objectives align, but due to our limited court time together, our on-court chemistry is still evolving. Watching Ingram's third-quarter performance left me in awe."

Williamson’s relentless inside presence fueled a 22-4 run, propelling the Pelicans to a commanding 65-51 lead. Their effective interior play contributed to New Orleans' impressive shooting percentages—57.8% in the first half and 54.3% for the game.

Despite Fox's stellar form in previous games, scoring at least 28 points in most outings, he struggled, finishing 5 of 8 from the floor.

The Pelicans' 36-point victory marked their most significant win margin of the season.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to clash again in New Orleans on Wednesday night.
