Inter Milan 1-0 AS Roma: Inter reclaim top spot thanks to late Thuram goal

Inter Milan reclaimed first place in Serie A on Sunday with a deserved 1-0 home victory over AS Roma, thanks to Marcus Thuram's late goal.
With nine minutes remaining, Federico Dimarco broke down the left before delivering a low cross into the box, where Thuram outpaced his defender and calmly tapped the ball into the net.
Inter has 25 points from 10 games, while Juventus has 23. Juventus briefly went top after a last-second 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona at home on Saturday.
Roma, who were without manager Jose Mourinho due to suspension, are in eighth place with 14 points.
Roma struggled to disrupt Inter's play early on, as the hosts created several chances, including a shot from Thuram that was saved by goalkeeper Rui Patricio's legs.
Inter began the second half as they ended the first with Thuram heading a cross just over the bar in the opening minutes.
Just after the hour, Roma came within inches of taking the lead when Bryan Cristante's header was met by an outstanding full-stretch save from Yann Sommer.
Thuram opened the scoring with time running out, and they almost went two goals up when Carlos Augusto's long-range strike hit the crossbar.
Inter travel to Atalanta on Saturday before hosting RB Salzburg in the Champions League group stage on November 8.
