Inter Milan 3-1 Cagliari: Nerazzurri maintain Serie A lead with commanding victory over visitors

Inter Milan strengthened their position at the top of Serie A with a confident 3-1 home win against Cagliari, courtesy of goals from Marko Arnautovic, Lautaro Martinez and Yann Aurel Bisseck. The result keeps Inter six points clear of second-placed Napoli, who face Empoli on Monday, with just six rounds remaining in the competition.

Arnautovic opened the scoring in the 13th minute, smashing the ball into the net from close range. Cagliari's best chance to equalize came when Roberto Piccoli went one-on-one with Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer, but the Swiss international made a sharp save to maintain the lead. Just moments later, Martinez extended the advantage in the 26th minute by slipping through the Cagliari defense and chipping past Elia Caprile, who was caught in two minds about when to come off his line.

Martinez nearly added another before halftime with an acrobatic bicycle kick that narrowly missed the target. Cagliari responded early in the second half, with Piccoli heading home in the 48th minute after being left unmarked, sending the ball bouncing into the top corner. However, any hopes of a comeback were short-lived as Bisseck restored Inter’s two-goal cushion in the 55th minute, rising above the defense to head home from a corner.

Piccoli had one last opportunity to narrow the deficit late on, but his close-range shot was dramatically cleared by Stefan de Vrij, who managed to flick the ball over the crossbar with a well-timed header.
