Jack Doohan to replace outgoing Esteban Ocon for first practice in Canada

Alpine's Australian reserve driver Jack Doohan (21) is set to step in for Esteban Ocon (27) during the first Friday practice session of the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, as confirmed by the Renault-owned Formula One team.
The announcement was made by Alpine on Monday, revealing that Ocon, who had a collision with teammate Pierre Gasly in the previous race in Monaco and is facing a five-place grid penalty for the Montreal race, will be departing from the team at the conclusion of the season.
Doohan, the son of five-time 500cc motorcycling world champion Mick Doohan, is being considered as a potential replacement for the French driver.
He has participated in four F1 rookie free practice sessions, with his most recent one being in Abu Dhabi at the conclusion of the previous season.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Doohan stated, "I am thankful to the team for allowing me more track time and the chance to familiarize myself with the 2024 machinery early in the season.
This experience will also complement the work I am doing in the simulator, especially during the European rounds."
Alpine currently holds the ninth position in the 10-team standings, having accumulated two points from eight races.
