Jackson, Jordan lead Nuggets to victory over Clippers

In a challenging scenario for the Denver Nuggets, where they were short-handed, away from home, and contending with the fatigue of a back-to-back game sans their standout player Nikola Jokic, few anticipated the extraordinary performance awaiting them against the Los Angeles Clippers.

But Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan, both former Clippers, had a different narrative in mind when facing their previous team. Their familiarity with the Clippers seemed to ignite a spark within them.

Jackson orchestrated an astounding show, delivering 35 points coupled with 13 assists, while Jordan's impactful presence contributed 21 points and secured an impressive 13 rebounds in the Nuggets' remarkable 113-104 triumph over Los Angeles on that memorable Monday night.

For Jackson, this victory held a special place. "Definitely one of the sweeter ones," he expressed, acknowledging the absence of key players and praising the team's resilience and collective effort. He lauded their relentless spirit in the face of adversity.

Their collaboration in executing the pick-and-roll was nothing short of artistry, with Jordan's aerial finesse leading to thunderous dunks that reverberated throughout the game. Despite Jackson being the primary scorer, he attributed their success to Jordan's commanding presence, drawing defensive attention and creating opportunities for the team.

Their synergy was most evident in the fourth quarter, a period where the Nuggets initially trailed by 11 points. Jackson spearheaded a staggering 22-6 surge, bookending it with crucial 3-pointers, while orchestrating plays that led to Jordan's emphatic slams.

Reflecting on their performance, Jordan acknowledged the opportunities created by their flawless execution: "Tonight the lob was there. We made them pay on different things."

The Nuggets' victory was more remarkable given the absence of star players like Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon, who collectively contribute an average of 58.2 points. Coach Michael Malone commended the team's depth and unwavering belief in each other, emphasizing the significance of such victories.

Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers' charge with 31 points, accompanied by Ivica Zubac's notable 23 points and 14 rebounds. However, Paul George's struggles, fouling out early in the fourth and finishing with a mere six points on an inefficient shooting night, marred the Clippers' efforts.

Despite a strong third-quarter performance by the Clippers, where they outscored Denver 32-19, the Nuggets' resilience and dominance in the final quarter tilted the scales in their favor. The Clippers' late-game falter, marked by Westbrook's missed free throw and untimely turnovers by Harden and George, sealed their eighth consecutive loss to the Nuggets.

The Nuggets, reigning NBA champions, showcased their resilience on the road, improving to a 4-6 record away from home. Their next challenge awaited them against Houston, while the Clippers aimed to bounce back in their forthcoming visit to Sacramento.
