Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence departs game with concussion following hard hit.

Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, sustained a concussion due to a severe late hit from Azeez Al-Shaair, resulting in the ejection of the Texans linebacker and a subsequent altercation between the two NFL teams on Sunday.

Lawrence was in the process of sliding to a halt following a six-yard scramble when Al-Shaair collided with his head, leaving the Jaguars quarterback visibly disoriented and his teammates incensed.

As a significant shoving match broke out near Lawrence, who was down on the field, Jacksonville cornerback Jarrian Jones was also ejected for his involvement in the skirmish, while tight end Evan Engram received a penalty for unnecessary roughness.

Tensions flared once more when Al-Shaair exchanged words with Jacksonville guard Brandon Scherff as he was being escorted off the field, prompting teammates to hold Al-Shaair back as he attempted to confront Scherff.

"This is a situation that no one wishes to witness in our league," remarked Jaguars coach Doug Pederson following the game. "The aftermath is evident, and it only escalates from there."

"It is regrettable... I am relieved that Trevor will be alright," the coach added, although there was no update on when Lawrence might return to play.

The quarterback exited the game on a cart but was soon declared out for the remainder of the match. He had just made his return after missing two games due to a left shoulder injury.

This incident marks not the first time this season that Al-Shaair has been involved in a confrontation on the field. In September, he avoided suspension after striking Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson, although he was reportedly fined $11,000 by the NFL.

The incident occurred when Al-Shaair struck Bears quarterback Caleb Williams along the sideline as Williams was attempting to exit the playing field. In response to the complaints from several Bears players, Al-Shaair retaliated by punching Johnson's facemask.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans indicated that he would address the situation with Al-Shaair regarding the incident.

"It is regrettable," Ryans remarked. "That behavior is not what we advocate, and it does not reflect our values."

The Texans secured a 23-20 victory, marking only their second win in five weeks, which improved the AFC South leaders' record to 8-5.

Conversely, the Jaguars faced their fifth consecutive loss.
