Jake Browning stars as Bengals rally to defeat Vikings 27-24 in overtime

Evan McPherson's 29-yard field goal with 3:11 left in overtime lifted the Cincinnati Bengals to a 27-24 victory over the visiting Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.

On third-and-9, Jake Browning connected with Tyler Boyd for 44 yards to move the ball to the Vikings' 13-yard line, setting up the game-winning kick for Cincinnati (8-6).

Browning finished the game 29-for-42 for 324 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

With 6:12 left in overtime, the Bengals stopped Minnesota (7-7) on fourth-and-1 at the Cincinnati 42, giving the Bengals, who had the ball to begin the extra period, another chance to win the game.

Vikings quarterback Nick Mullens threw two touchdown passes to Jordan Addison, who finished with six catches for 111 yards, and Ty Chandler set up Minnesota's go-ahead score in the fourth quarter with a 30-yard run. Chandler finished with 132 yards and a 1-yard touchdown run on 23 carries.

The Bengals took an early 3-0 lead thanks to a 34-yard McPherson field goal.

The Vikings then marched 75 yards in 12 plays for their first touchdown in two games, with Chandler scoring on a 1-yard run with 2:23 remaining in the first quarter.

The Bengals lost starting nose tackle DJ Reader to a quad injury during the drive, and he was carted off with 7:46 left in the first quarter. Reader will miss the rest of the season due to a torn quad tendon, according to NFL Network.

Later in the first quarter, another Bengals defensive player, DJ Ivey, was carted to the locker room after suffering a left knee injury while covering a punt.

The Vikings took a two-score lead out of halftime when Mullens stepped in during a heavy rush and found Addison over the middle. Addison converted it into a 37-yard catch-and-run touchdown, giving Minnesota a 14-3 lead.

The Bengals came back from 17-3 and 24-17 deficits in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 points in the 15-minute period to force overtime.

With 6:21 left in the fourth quarter, Bengals star defensive end Trey Hendrickson was called offsides, negating a Germaine Pratt pick-6 that would have given the Bengals a late lead.

Hendrickson finished with 1.5 sacks, bringing his season total to 15, breaking his official franchise record of 14 set in 2021.

Tee Higgins caught a pass at the Minnesota 1 and then crossed the goal line with his right arm and hand as Akayleb Evans tackled him for a 21-yard game-tying touchdown with 39 seconds left in regulation.

The Bengals' game-tying drive was hampered by the absence of star receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who was carted to the locker room with a right shoulder injury. He hauled in four passes for 64 yards.
