Jake Paul promises to knock 'boring' Mike Tyson out in Texas

Jake Paul, aged 27, is placing his confidence in his ability to defeat boxing icon Mike Tyson, who is 58, when they face off in Texas on Friday. The social media influencer turned professional boxer anticipates an intense match.

Paul, significantly younger than Tyson by over three decades, expressed his desire for a classic display from "Iron Mike," who will be participating in his first professional fight since 2005.

"I want him to embody that old savage Mike," stated Paul, who holds a record of 10 wins and 1 loss, during a press conference on Wednesday.

"I seek the toughest challenge possible on Friday night, and I expect no excuses from anyone when I achieve a knockout."

In contrast, Tyson, with a record of 50 wins and 6 losses, appeared rather subdued at the press conference, providing brief responses to direct inquiries and showing little interest in the banter that Paul seemed eager to engage in.

"I'm just ready to fight," he remarked repeatedly during the media session.

Paul characterized Tyson's attitude as "boring."

Tyson, often referred to as the "Baddest Man on the Planet," was one of the most formidable heavyweight champions during his prime in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, the bout with Paul had to be postponed from July due to an ulcer flare-up experienced by the 58-year-old in late May.

When questioned about the implications of a loss to Paul on his legacy, Tyson displayed some assertiveness.

"I'm not going to lose," he declared.

As a reporter began a follow-up question, Tyson interjected emphatically, "I'm not going to lose! Did you hear what I said?"

Meanwhile, the showman Paul embraced theatricality, showcasing a diamond-studded ear cover as a playful nod to Tyson's infamous 1997 match against Evander Holyfield, where Tyson was disqualified for biting part of his opponent's ear.

Paul, challenging the undercard fighters present who doubted his victory, encouraged them to place bets, asserting that the outcome of the fight would be definitive.

"Somebody is getting put to sleep," Paul proclaimed.

A conflict is imminent. Both competitors are formidable forces. The match will not last the entire 16 minutes.

The highly anticipated event, viewed with skepticism by boxing traditionalists yet welcomed by the general audience, is scheduled for Friday in Arlington, Texas, at the Dallas Cowboys' venue and will be streamed live on Netflix.

This bout will feature eight rounds, each lasting two minutes, diverging from the standard three-minute rounds, and the fighters will don 14-ounce gloves rather than the usual 10 ounces to mitigate striking force.
