Jannik Sinner to play in Hamburg following conclusion of doping ban

World number one Jannik Sinner is set to participate in the ATP tournament in Hamburg from May 18-24, following the conclusion of his doping suspension, as confirmed by the organizers on Tuesday.

"For the first time in his career, Jannik Sinner will take part in the 2025 Hamburg Open," the tournament organizers announced via social media.

The 23-year-old accepted a three-month suspension in February after acknowledging "partial responsibility" for errors made by his team, which resulted in two positive tests for traces of the prohibited anabolic steroid clostebol in March 2024.

The reigning champions of both the US Open and Australian Open will see his suspension lift on May 4, enabling his return just in time for the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the year.

The Hamburg clay-court tournament will mark Sinner's second event post-suspension, as he is also scheduled to compete at the Italian Open in Rome from May 7-18.

Last year, Sinner advanced to the semi-finals of the French Open, which is set to take place this year from May 25 to June 8.
