Japan's Osaka, Nishikori confirmed for Paris Games

The Japan Tennis Association has announced that Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori will compete at this year's Olympic Games in Paris.

Osaka, a 26-year-old four-time Grand Slam winner, will compete in her second Games after finishing ninth in the singles at her home Tokyo Games in 2021, where she also served as the final torchbearer in the opening ceremony.

The world number 125 will be joined by former US Open finalist Nishikori, ranked 286th, who are both eligible under the International Tennis Federation's protected ranking rule.

Nishikori, 34, will make his fifth consecutive Olympic appearance, the most by a Japanese player. He won the bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Games by defeating Spain's Rafa Nadal.
