✨ A Rising Star
Bellingham joins Dortmund after a stellar campaign with Sunderland, where he played a pivotal role in the Black Cats’ promotion to the Premier League. The teenager made 90 appearances since joining from Birmingham City in 2023 and was named Championship Young Player of the Season for 2024/25.
In an emotional farewell, Bellingham said:
“I will always represent Wearside in all that I strive to achieve for the rest of my career, wherever that may be. I hope I have made you proud… you have made me the player that has reached the heights I find myself at today.”
Following in Big Brother’s - Jude Bellingham - Footsteps
Jobe now follows the path of his older brother, Jude Bellingham, who also made the switch from Birmingham City to Dortmund before joining Real Madrid in 2023. Jude’s success in the Bundesliga is credited with laying the foundation for the younger Bellingham's development and eventual move.
Dortmund confirmed that Jobe will be part of their squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where they face Fluminense in their Group F opener on June 17 at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.
The midfielder had initially been called up for the England U21 squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia but was released by head coach Lee Carsley to join Dortmund's campaign in the Club World Cup.
Borussia Dortmund, eight-time Bundesliga champions, see Bellingham as a key figure in their future midfield rebuild. Having secured Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, they continue to emphasize youth development and high-potential signings.
The club is known for developing young English talent, having nurtured Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham into world-class players.
