Jordan Binnington to start in goal for Canada in 4 Nations face-off

Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper announced to the media on Tuesday that Jordan Binnington will serve as the starting goalie for their upcoming game against Sweden on Wednesday.
The choice was made between Binnington and his teammates Adin Hill and Sam Montembeault. Prior to the announcement, Binnington was observed in the starting net during Team Canada's practice session.
“Binnington was genuinely thrilled,” Cooper remarked. “He possesses a strong sense of confidence and is eager to take on this role.”
“This player has experienced significant moments and high-stakes games; he is a fierce competitor—though I must emphasize that the other goalies are equally prepared should the need arise.”
This season, Binnington has recorded a goals against average of 2.89 and a save percentage of .897 with the St. Louis Blues.
Hill, with a 2.64 GAA and .900 SV%, along with Montembeault, who has a 3.00 GAA and .897 SV%, may also see action in the tournament if Binnington encounters difficulties. Nevertheless, the former Stanley Cup champion is poised for the challenges that lie ahead.
“It’s time to go,” Binnington stated. “This has been on my mind for a while. Receiving the nod is truly exhilarating.”
Binnington is notable for being the only rookie goaltender in NHL history to win every game during his team's playoff journey to a Stanley Cup championship. He has dedicated all eight years of his career to the Blues.
