Julen Lopetegui faces increasing pressure following defeat at Leicester

Julen Lopetegui's (58) position as the manager of West Ham United appears increasingly precarious following the team's 3-1 loss to Leicester City on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard remains resolute in his commitment to overcome this latest disappointment and focus on future challenges.
Since his appointment at the beginning of the season, Lopetegui has aimed to reinstate West Ham's dynamic playing style, which had been absent during several seasons of a more conservative approach under David Moyes.
However, despite a series of new signings intended to enhance the squad, he has yet to achieve the anticipated results.
Currently, West Ham sits in 14th place after enduring their seventh defeat in 14 Premier League matches. Despite this, Lopetegui expressed that he is not preoccupied with his own job security.
"My primary concern is to attend tomorrow's training session, motivate the players, and prepare for the upcoming challenge," he stated following the match.
The match against Leicester proved to be particularly frustrating for Lopetegui's team, which, despite registering 31 attempts on goal, nine corners, and 55 touches in the opponent's penalty area, could only manage a consolation goal in stoppage time.
"Typically, when a team performs as we did, victory is expected, yet we fell short, and it is difficult to articulate why. This is challenging for the players, for us, and for the supporters," Lopetegui remarked to the media.
"To alter this situation, we must replicate the performance we delivered for 65 or 70 minutes with that same determination. This is the only method I know to effect change—by creating numerous opportunities and maintaining pressure in the opponent's half, but we must improve our execution."
Lopetegui gained prominence at Sevilla, where he achieved three consecutive top-four finishes and secured the Europa League title before his tenure at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He successfully led Wolves from the bottom of the Premier League to a mid-table position in the 2022/23 season but departed after just nine months due to disagreements over the club's transfer strategy.
West Ham's next match is against Wolves, with the two teams scheduled to face off at the London Stadium on Monday.
